“I am interested in the ways that dancing reveals impulsive ritualism in practice and performance. I am attentive to pattern emergence awakened by embodied tangents and energetic shifts in body-space. How do these elements in dancing self-organize and reflect as archetypes, images, metaphors? How do they connect us to a greater experience of a body cosmology and the full spectrum of humanness?”

Dance Class Descriptions

Open level class begins with somatic curiosities and then moves into a dynamic exploration of space. Think warming-up from inner to outer perspectives. Somehow class finds its way into a group flow and spontaneous ritual making (if we are so lucky). Threads of classical modern dancing technique are woven throughout class. This tapestry includes but is not limited to: swinging, rebounding, suspending, twirling, floating, flowing, shaking, spiraling and pattern making. Ecstatic experiences and spontaneous healing are always welcome.

Intermediate and Advanced classes will explore all stated above plus sophisticated patterns and phraseology. Students will be challenged athletically and intellectually. Modalities and practices may include horizontal falling, directing and counter-directing, contact improvisation, extensive floor-work, larger risk-taking jumps and Forsythe's improvisational tools.
